Welcome to Fargo?

As of this weekend we’ve lived in the new house for a month.  It’s hard to believe it has been that long and yet I hardly remember living in the old house.  Funny how that happens isn’t it?  A big reason it might seem like yesterday is because well we have a foot of snow on the ground just like when we moved in.  The camera was still at the bottom of some box at that time so no flicks were captured.  This time I was able to snap away.  The old gal is quite photogenic in the snow.  It is kind of like a Botox shot for the landscape.  One of these days I’ll get around to trimming all those bushes up and giving her the exterior face lift she deserves.

We have a LONG driveway and after shoveling it this morning my back is in need of some sorta shot.  After this snow the only person who needs a lift is me.  Let’s hope I can pack the snow shovel up until next winter.

Christmas Eve 2009

About a week ago the local news was on in the background and I distinctly remember a weatherman saying the chances of a white Christmas in Oklahoma are near zero and we wouldn’t be enjoying one this year. Well congratulations Dan, Frank, Travis or whatever the heck your name was you were wrong! We aren’t enjoying a white Christmas, we’re fighting a blizzard Christmas! We have a good foot of snow in most places around the house and who knows what the night holds. Our goal is to make it to OKC/Norman/OKC Christmas Day. Let’s hope Santa brings a whole lot of sunshine down our chimney tonight.

The boys have been great about staying out of their presents (kinda, sorta, maybe) so, as is tradition in our family we let them open one on Christmas Eve. They also had one last chance to beg Santa for good gifts, no matter how random they are.

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas Eve!

It’s Snowing!

This weekend we received the most snow ever for this late in the year.  The week preceding was in the 70′s and the week following is predicted to be the same.  Our back yard measured snow as deep as 10″ and I couldn’t find a spot shallower than 6″!  It was amazing to watch soft, wet snow fall for 8+ hours in Tulsa.  Normally our snow is preceded & followed by ice, sleet, rain, hail, etc, but not this time.  Our local weathermen did drop a new term on us though, “Thundersnow.”  I am not sure if this is related to the new NBA down the t-pike or ’cause it actually thundered before it began to snow.  Either way it was fun to watch.

Unfortunately, Jenny & the boys were in OKC for a baby shower and missed out on the fun.  They arrived back in Tulsa about 3p on Sunday.  As soon as they pulled up Jacob jumped out and wanted to play in the snow.  By that time it was pretty crusty and wet.  Luckily I had the camera handy and was able to snap a few pictures of him running around in it before I snapped to my senses and got him inside to dry off and warm up.  Hopefully next time we will be able to build a fat snowman complete with a carrot nose.
