Jenny’s Birthday

Today we celebrated Jenny’s **nd birthday.  We attended church on Saturday night to give us plenty of time as a family.  The day started with my taking the boys to the grocery store while Jenny slept in.  After gathering our groceries, a Mickey Mouse birthday card from the boys and a birthday cake we headed home to make brunch.  The boys could barely eat their pancakes knowing a birthday cake sat in the kitchen.  After brunch we played in the backyard and then we all took great naps.  As I was waking up from my nap I heard a crash; Jacob had procured the cake and accidentally dropped it.  The cake survived but the icing was a bit mussed.

Feeling rested I started on a dinner of rib-eyes, corn on the cob, asparagus and scalloped potatoes.  Halfway through grilling I ran out of propane, but a quick trip to Lowe’s remedied the situation and dinner was served.

We served the cake on the deck and we all took corner pieces!

Happy birthday Jenny!!!

New Kids On the Block Reunite

Monday night we entertained a group of friends & bank clients in the MidFirst Suite at the downtown events center for the New Kids On the Block reunion tour. Don’t remember NKOTB? Here is a refresher:

Jenny has been looking forward to this night for weeks and she had a wonderful evening of fun & nostalgia. I hung in the back with the husbands and enjoyed watching the ladies sing & dance. My ears have experienced some loud concerts in my day but this one was maybe the loudest. The music itself wasn’t the loudest but the music combined with the screeching of 4,000+ girls & women was deafening. We were able to snap a few flicks of the group and the show. Due to the lighting they are a little rough, but you get the idea.

Prior to the show most of the group ate dinner at our favorite lil’ pizza joint Joe Momma’s Pizza. If you haven’t been to see Momma’s you need to head downtown to sample the pizza & wonderful sandwiches. Ask for Money Makin’ Blake and tell ‘em Roby sent ya.

Kid Free Weekend

This weekend we spent the weekend without the boys. They spent the weekend with Mimi & Poppy. We spent Friday evening with friends and had dinner with our friend Jake Sullivan at Lola’s at the Bowery. We received a great surprise when we found out that Aranda was playing at Cain’s Ballroom Friday night. After wrapping up a great dinner we walked up to Cain’s and had a great time seeing Aranda. They were awesome and we loved seeing them in such a great venue. If you have never seen Aranda here is a taste:

Saturday we pretty much relaxed. I jumped back on my bike for the first time since breaking my arm in August ’07 and rode a leisurely ten miles with no broken bones. Saturday night we went to the Mardi Gras event at the Oklahoma Aquarium.

Sunday was even more relaxed. We went to breakfast at BBD and stuffed our bellies. Guess who had what…

Canadian Bacon, spinach, mushroom, pepper jack omelet at BBD!... on TwitPic

Strawberry & banana waffle with butter & syrup at BBD. Yummmm... on TwitPic

Following breakfast we went to the late, late service at church. Not sure exactly what to do with ourselves on a Sunday afternoon without kiddos we decided to visit the Gilcrease Museum. We received a membership to the museum last year but had never used it! We were a few weeks late to see the Ansel Adams exhibit but the American Impressionism exhibit was really cool.

I convinced Jenny to take a few snapshots at the Gilcrease. She loves those self-portraits I just can’t resist taking.

Mardi Gras

I am lucky to serve as the Vice President of the Oklahoma Aquarium Foundation’s Board of Directors.  This weekend the Foundation hosted our largest fundraiser, Mardi Gras at the Oklahoma Aquarium.  MidFirst is kind enough to serve as a sponsor of the event in honor of my service to the Foundation.  The sponsorship allows Jenny & I to attend along with a group of guests.  This year we attended with a prospective client, his spouse, a business acquaintance of mine, his spouse and my colleague Chris Cardoni & his wife Meg (check our their family blog here).  Our guests left early so it provided us bank employees time to let it loose in the casino.  By bank employees I mean Jenny & Meg.

Chris & I donated our chips for the ladies use and they won all kinds of stuffed animals for their boys.  We didn’t get a lot of pics during the evening, but here are a few.  You get the idea.
