Tulsa Tough – Day Three

TulsaToughLogo

Day Three of Tulsa Tough continued Sunday.  We went to early service at church then picked up sandwiches for lunch.  With lunch, blankets & chairs in tow we headed out to the festival grounds.  We found a great spot on the lawn of the McBirney Mansion. It was shaded perfectly, right on the race course and had a view of the river.  We had a great time watching the cyclists zoom by while eating lunch.

After eating lunch we walked down to the “Party On the Hill” to meet friends.  We didn’t quite make it to the party because of the crowds.  It was quite the party and full of interesting people. Our friend Jake shot & edited this:

Tulsa Tough – Day Two

TulsaToughLogo

With Josh having a great time Friday night at Tulsa Tough we decided to take the family out Saturday afternoon to see the cyclists in the Brady District downtown.  We have taken the boys to the Saturday portion of Tulsa Tough for several years and they have always enjoyed it.  The only bad thing about the Saturday races is the heat.  Yesterday was no exception, it was blazing!  It was very fun to watch the Tough Kids fun races including John & James Boudiette.  Hopefully the boys will have some sort of biking skill by next year and we can enter the them.

After the cycling was over we drove over to the river parks and enjoyed some time on the playground and chasing geese.

Our camera battery was dead but Josh snapped a few pics with his camera phone.

Tulsa Tough – Day One

Tulsa Tough started last night.  What started several years ago as a dream of a local group of cyclists has turned into a full-fledged cycling festival.  My good friend Jesse Boudiette invited me to view the Friday night races from the VIP area.  Never one to turn down a perk I quickly took him up on the offer and was glad I did.  The VIP area was stocked with great food and plenty of cold beverages.  It also happened to be right on one of the best parts of the course and had a great view of a jumbo-tron showing the other parts of the course.  Watching cyclists go by at 30+ miles an hour at night in an urban environment complete with a raucos crowd is an awesome experience.  I failed to bring my Canon, but did have my BlackBerry camera, so the pics are okay but not great.
